WHAT’S ON AT DUFF HOUSE – July ’17

Fri 14th July: 11.30 and 2pm Abraham Isaac Jacob !

Join us on a guided walk around Duff House woods and learn about this uncommon plant, rare in Scotland, that has found a foothold here. You can also hear about the original geography of some of the Duff Estate, stories from it’s history, see inside the Mausoleum, and more. Starts from Duff House for about an hour. Fri 14th July: 7pm   Outside Theatre “Twelfth Night”

Gates open 6.15pm. Bring your chairs, rugs and picnics and enjoy a refreshing modern take by Folksy Theatre of a traditional story, with audience participation. The story is about twins, separated by a shipwreck. Viola disguises herself as a man and goes to work for Duke Orsino, and falls in love with him; he thinks he loves Olivia but she falls in love with the disguised Viola, but marries her twin brother (as they look alike !). Various sub-plots add further comic moments. Tickets at Duff House or from historicenvironment.scot website.

 

Sun 16th July: Croquet 2pm to ~4pm

A genteel (believe that if you will !) and social game of croquet, in a beautiful setting, with refreshments available. We play a form of lawn croquet suitable for all levels of experience, from the complete beginner to the experienced player. Come and join us, open to all.

 

Sat 22nd & Sun 23rd July: 12-4pm   Home and Prison

Meet a ‘soldier of the Highland Division’ and find out more about the role Duff House played as an army base and a POW camp during WW2. Get up close to some of the authentic military equipment of the period. Included in House admission.

 

To 30th July: Exhibition “D Y Cameron”

About 30 watercolours, drawings and prints on display, by D Y Cameron (1865 to 1945). The Exhibition by NGS focuses on his renowned work as a draughtsman, printmaker and leading member of the international etching revival. Included in House admission.

 

30th July: Guided Tours

Grounds tours 11.30am & 2pm (see also 14th July); House tour 1pm. Each are about an hour. Book at the House or by calling 01261 818181. Included in House admission.
