January 2026 at Duff House

Now that 2026 has arrived – and is trying to get all it’s bad weather over at the start (we hope!) – please take care out there – and may 2026 be a good Year for you.

We had previously advised that Duff House would re-open tomorrow Saturday 3rd Jan, but unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances, re-opening will now only be on Sunday 4th Jan – weather permitting, noting the nearby Amber snow warning!

Opening hours for Jan, Feb and Mar are Fri, Sat, Sun, 10am to 12.30; 1.15pm to 3.30 (last entry 2.30).

Coming up:

Sunday 11th January  – “Historic Sunday”

Come along to Duff House (or indeed to many Historic Environment Scotland sites) for free.  If you would like to take up this offer you MUST go to historicsundays.scot, choose Duff House (or another property) and book your free tickets.  This is open to all residents of Scotland.  You may have to show your ID on arrival.

If you are a HES member, then of course you get free entry on any day a property is open!

At Duff House on Sunday 11th, in addition to a grand stately home and a Country Art gallery:

  • playing of the grand piano in the 2nd floor Salon by Jane – and if the last Historic Sunday is anything to go by, the atmosphere throughout the House was great;
  • starting at 1.30pm, weather allowing, a guided walk through the Duff House policies to – and inside – the Mausoleum. First come first served, please wear suitable boots and clothing;
  • a slide show of photos from during the refurbishment of Duff House over 30 years ago;
  • the penultimate weekend of the “Eagle and Unicorn” exhibition; the stories of Polish soldiers who were based in Duff House in 1946 and subsequently settled in north east Scotland;
  • the Work in Focus, “Christ delivered to the people” by Stanley Spencer, an interesting painting merging the artists contemporary feelings (trying to make up with his first wife, and divorcing his grasping second wife!) with Pontius Pilate washing his hands and Jesus being led away and the disciples scuttling off.

Please do book your tickets and come along.
